WELCOME TO MY STUDIO

Hi, I’m Maria!

As an illustrator, graphic designer and copywriter, I love combining my academic background and interest in science with a curious, visual mindset. I create content that makes complex ideas easy to understand and design that communicates bold ideas with clarity.

I started my freelance career in 2020 after graduating from Radboud University with a master’s degree cum laude. What I love most about my work today is the variety it brings. Switching between different topics, between creativity and logic, from sketchpad to notebook is something I wouldn’t want to miss.

Curious? Take a look at some of my design and copywriting projects.

FROM RESEARCH TO DESIGN

Over the years, I’ve worked with start-ups, established brands and universities across a wide range of topics and industries. I love diving into new subjects, researching and finding the right words and visuals to make ideas seen and heard.

In recent years, this has included projects in fields such as science and research, marketing, technology, software, sustainability, food and beverage, lifestyle, sports, leisure and more.

What I enjoy most is helping clients turn complex or abstract ideas into designs, illustrations and copy that feel clear, creative and accessible.

OF MOUNTAINS AND FLATLANDS

Outside my client work, I spend much of my time painting in my atelier. My artistic focus lies in semi-realistic naturescapes and abstract paintings made from pigments I create myself using natural materials such as stones, charcoal and ashes. Growing up in a small town at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, surrounded by mountains, lakes and forests, has influenced my art and illustration projects for as long as I can remember.

I’m fascinated by the serene, almost spherical stillness and strength we can still find in wilder, untouched places. Misty forests, rugged mountains and bright skies set against our busy, urban, and overstimulated lives. Exploring how nature can make us feel about life is something I will continue to pursue through my art.
