Welcome to my atelier
In my work, I explore what freedom looks like to me and the longing that comes with that question. Nature carries memories of the rural home I grew up in, while increasingly becoming a projection of freedom that feels distant from my everyday life. Charged with memory, longing and emotion, these places become more fantasy than the reality I once experienced. This makes me interested in nature as a projection of what we long for, miss, or feel disconnected from in our lives, and in how my painted landscapes can become spaces for the viewer’s own projections.

Abstract art
During my walks and hikes I collect stones and natural materials that draw my attention through their colour or texture. Back in my atelier, I grind them into fine powders and use them to make my own acrylic paint. I love how those different pigments always harmonize with each other and can even change their colour over time on the canvas. And I like the thought that those artworks carry a physical trace of the places I have passed through.
The colours I am most drawn to in nature also recur in my more experimental works, particularly blues and greens. I layer them to create depth and explore how a painting changes as it absorbs or reflects light.
Across both approaches, the process remains open.
Watercolour
In my watercolour work, I enjoy painting subjects from nature realistically, while adding a touch of my own illustration style. I particularly enjoy the precision and steady hand that watercolour requires.
All my aquarelle are available as fine art prints on 300 g/m² “Oud Hollands” paper containing cotton fibres and are printed locally in Tilburg. Its natural texture resembles the watercolour paper I use for my original paintings, giving the prints an authentic look and feel.
